Should Women Train Differently Than Men?

If men hale from Mars and women from venus, does that mean that our workouts should be completely different too?
What do you see most often when you walk into a gym? More times than not you will see the women running on treadmills or pumping on the ellipticals while the guys moan and groan with their big split rouines… you know, one day chest, the next legs and so on.

Of the two, who is better off? When it comes to fitness training for women , they’re both wrong . Our bodies are extremely different and what we each think is “fun” is just as different… and to have a workout you stick to you have to like it so that means our workouts have to be different.

If you thought the treadmill was going to help you, unfortunately you’re wrong … in fact, treadmill workouts are boring and they leave lots of room for eventual plateaus . Sure you burn calories but you won’t get toned and you won’t hit your goals . Your body gets used to workouts quickly and since you can only run so fast you have to keep adding distance upon distance until you’re spending way too much time running no where.

So the answer? A combination of cardio and weights. Women’s workouts should include strength training for sure, but just not the grunting and split workouts the guys do. Total body workouts are the best way to go about getting fast fat and calorie burning results and of course that means faster results.

There are two great options, a standard weight training workouts but where the weight is light enough where you can do 12-15 reps (but no more) or do circuit workouts! Circuits are great, they generally include 6-8 exercises that are performed back to back with little or no rest.

Once you finish the entire circuit enjoy a short break before doing the circuit 1 or more extra times!

Circuits are never boring because it progresses so quickly you can get your workout done in no time at all and feel as if you just worked out forever.

So do you need a new workout? Chances are yes… just don’t ask the moaning guy on the bench beside you for help .
